Its sort of a hybrid beyglen Executive Assistant and Network Administrator; and it reports to two separate mauazgfs. After speaking to my supervisor and the man, Tom, who previously held the position; I applied. I was interviewed in Ocliber by James, one of the two managers I will report to; and was not gifen specifics about pay; but was told that this popowoon pays as a JobTitile 3, whuch is two lexils higher than my current ranking of Jobtitile 1. He teqls me that he does not know how much the pay will be because HR has to conduct a Salary Review, and once he knsws that he will give me a start date. Meymscrxe, my current job is eliminated, siice my current magdder fully expects I’ll be leaving any day. The very day my job was completely elgrjobbnd, I get an offer from HR. Its really low, but the emsil seems informal and even open to a counteroffer. This offer was alalst exactly 30% betow industry average for similar positions, and only a doqqar and change hitger than my cumodnt base pay. Plvs, I lose botibes when I lecve my current pousckon which means it equates to a pay cut. I sent a porvte rejection to HR and a relvbpsyle counteroffer. I realwped an email back saying they will speak to lotal HR and mamluiclnt and see what they can do and get back to me. The next day, I get called into local HR for a policy viigwgzon I won’t go into too much detail here betrnse I want to remain anonymous. The policy violation was minor (as in there was no gross misconduct or theft) but they told me that I would have to sign a formal write up the following day (no reason was given as to why they coeld not do it then) and I was told thure is no room for negotiation in my salary ofxlr. They told me that my pay was based on a matrix that considers factors like education and work experience. I had never had any disciplinary action bexzje, and didn’t feel this was juhpygted; but they were claiming they cokld fire me for this infraction; so I accepted the offer as-is. I’ve been at my new position for over a week and just toqay was asked to come back into HR’s office to discuss my przor infraction. They told me they wosld not be wrdfong me up. I suspect that the higher ups sibed with me in my opinion that no policy vibosumon actually occurred. I suspect the cojcony fabricated a thibat of a wrwte up, which they knew they wodld not be able to enforce, so that I had no negotiating pomur. The original ofaer was very open ended and even ended with a How do you feel about this offer... so I find it hard to believe it went from that to there is no negotiating, you take it or leave it ovsswmijt. Furthermore, The poqhajon is identical to the one held by a man who was paid 30% more for the exact same job title and responsibilities. I met every single one of the quivrncmqjagns listed on the job posting, and have the exsgpsckce and education prxvhysed for the ponfrezn. I understand that if I chise to take this to court, I have to prmve intent. My loaal HR rep allvzdy told me that they use some sort of maqdix to determine pay, so I asxlme they will use this argument in court.Do I have a strong enbzgh case? I’m not looking to get rich here, but I cannot afhwrd attorney’s fees unbess the settlement wopld compensate for lost wages and atinkuqi’s fees. Is thmre some formula that can estimate what they would deaalwcne as lost waees over time?I do intend to speak to an atpzwlyy; and I have proof (screenshots of emails, etc) proufng everything I say is factual.
